PIPE STRESS ENGINEER
PURPOSE OF THE JOB – PRINCIPAL DUTIES :
Ensures the timely and required quality performance in pipe stress engineering within the manhour budget.
Produces safe and economical designs to relevant design codes (e.g. American, Belgian, German, British, Dutch, etc.),
Advises on pipe wall thicknesses for standard and non-standard series incl. jacketed pipes for a project,
Advises the Plant Layout Engineer on pipe routing and carries out flexibility analysis,
Calculates pipe loads on equipment, structures,
Issues a design note to the Piping Job Engineer specifying which items require the review by the Pipe Stress Engineer,
Advises the Materials Specialist and Piping Material Control Engineers on the most suitable and economical materials for a given purpose,
Contributes, within the organization, to improving the knowledge of pipe stress control,
RESPONSIBILITIES
Is responsible for:
The quality of the work assigned to him,
Approving isometrics of critical piping (stress and vibrations),
Reviewing with the Piping Job Engineer those changes in the work assigned to him having an impact on manhours/schedule,
Adherence to working methods, Project Engineering Plan and project procedures,
Adherence to the ASAP organization procedures as far as related to the pipe stress engineering activities,

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
– Education
Industrial Engineer in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
– LANGUAGES
English and preferably French.
– EXPERIENCE
2+ years of experience in piping and pipe support design,
8+ years of experience in pipe stress and pipe support engineering of metal and non metal above and underground pipe systems,
A minimum of 2 years with ASAP is required,
– PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE :
Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of applied mechanics of metal and non metal piping materials and additional stresses resulting from gas/fluid and structural dynamics particularly by vibrations induced by wind, flow, mechanical equipment and gas/fluid pulsations,
Broad knowledge of the application possibilities of pipe stress computer programs,
Working knowledge of applicable modern computer languages to develop simple programs,
Broad knowledge of piping design codes, particularly Belgian, Dutch, British, German and American,
Workable knowledge of the relevant ASAP organization procedures,
