MECHANICAL ENGINEER- ROTARING EQUIPMENT
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Prepares, on time and with the required quality, the engineering documents, calculations, (instruction) drawings, etc. – as basic requirements for fabrication according to vendor’s proprietary design – within the agreed schedule, using SCB’s and/or client’s standards, procedures and further requirements.
SCOPE OF WORK
Specialized:
Large complicated rotating equipment for power generation and process application, i.e. gas turbines/complicated centrifugal and reciprocating compressors/refrigerating systems (chilling units),
Further specializing in one of the following professional fields:
Boilers and furnaces.
Special equipment: materials processing, e.g. extruders; materials transport, e.g. conveyors; other equipment, e.g. refrigerating systems.
HVAC.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES :
Interprets physically the process requirements as laid down by the Process Engineer. Develops, designs and specifies/selects equipment, taking into consideration : process and mechanical requirements, energy consumption, ease of operation, construction, safety, maintenance, etc,
Performs scope control during project execution for his part of the work.
Reviews engineering problems with the Mechanical Job/Lead Engineer.
Checks his work.
Assists in the preparation of the technical documentation for inquiries and defines vendor’s scope of supply.
Assists in the technical/economical assessment of bids.
Checks vendor documents, incl. maintenance and operating manuals.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
University level: degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Industrial Engineer in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Languages
English (fluently) and French (at sufficient level).
Experience
2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
Professional knowledge
Knowledge of his professional field (incl. characteristics of vendors’ proprietary designs).
Some knowledge of:
a)Plant layout, incl. safety requirements.
b)Equipment arrangement design.
c)Designing of pipeline systems.
Workable knowledge of other professional disciplines.
